Chelsea FC at least celebrated a prestigious victory in a duel between two Premier League disappointments. The former European Cup winners beat Champions League participants Newcastle United 3:2 (1:1) on Monday evening to at least claw their way back into the top half of the table.

With 39 points, the Blues are still only eleventh and remain behind Newcastle (10th/40th), but the Magpies have played one game more. However, both clubs are still a long way away from making it into international business.

Nicolas Jackson (6th), Cole Palmer (58th) and Mychajlo Mudryk (76th) scored for Chelsea, while ex-Dortmund player Alexander Isak (43rd) and Jacob Murphy (90th) were successful for Newcastle.
