Cocaine smugglers caught near Loibl tunnel

Who knows who was looking forward to a boozy weekend. But police officers thwarted their plans at the Loibltunnel border crossing.

At around 6 p.m. on Friday, a 22-year-old Slovenian woman and a 30-year-old Austrian woman arrived at the border crossing between Carinthia and Slovenia at the Loibl Tunnel. "During the entry check, police officers initially found a small amount of cocaine that one woman was smuggling on her body," the police reported.

Naturally, a more detailed investigation was then initiated and sniffer dogs were also called in to help. "During the vehicle search, further cocaine was found and seized," said the police.

While the Austrian woman was arrested by the police and taken to Klagenfurt prison, the Slovenian woman was released.
