Eva Pinkelnig flies to a podium finish in Oslo
After finishing fifth the day before, ski jumper Eva Pinkelnig achieved a podium finish in third place at the World Cup weekend on the Holmenkollen in Oslo on Sunday.
The athlete from Vorarlberg made up one position in the second run and was only beaten by the victorious Norwegian Eirin Maria Kvandal by 10.8 points and Nika Prevc by 8.6 points. The Slovenian thus extended her World Cup lead over Pinkelnig by 20 to 189 points ahead of the last five competitions of the season.
More Austrians in the top 20
While Norway's Silje Opseth's success on Saturday was stopped after one run due to the wind, the conditions were better this time. Pinkelnig made the most of it for her tenth podium finish of the season, with five victories. "Mega cool, I've really struggled on Holmenkollen so far," said Pinkelnig. "I'm really happy to be on the podium there for once. I'm really pleased that I've cracked the next hill." Upper Austrian Jacqueline Seifriedsberger, who finished tenth the previous day, came seventh this time (-25.4 points).
With Chiara Kreuzer, Sara Marita Kramer and Lisa Eder in 13th, 15th and 16th, three more Austrians finished in the top 20. 39th-placed Julia Mühlbacher missed out on qualifying for the second run. The World Cup will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday on normal and large hill in the upcoming World Cup venue Trondheim.
