Austria is also exhibiting at the world's largest tourism trade fair in Berlin these days. A key topic is the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Among other things, Tyrol's tourism experts presented a "dating app" for businesses in Berlin. The aim is to get the staffing problem under control.

With exhibitors from more than 180 countries, the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) in Berlin is the largest trade fair of its kind in the world. Tourism professionals from all over Austria will also be exhibiting this week.

AI helps us to be telepathic. Thanks to it, we know exactly what guests like and can therefore increase loyalty to the country.

The trade fair is like a huge speed dating event, where the countries want to write themselves into the hearts of journalists, tour operators and other business partners. Tirol Werbung (TW) used a press breakfast with 40 journalists to promote Tirol's hospitality. The new campaign even talks about "supernatural hospitality". With a dash of self-irony, it takes up what is being described at the ITB as a revolution in the industry: the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Employees and companies enter what they want and what they offer. The platform takes over the search and establishes the connection between companies and applicants.

Psychic powers thanks to new technology
Tirol recruiter Karin Seiler explained how this can be used for hospitality: "AI helps us to be telepathic. Thanks to it, we know exactly what the guest likes and can therefore increase the bond with the country." It is also hoped that AI will help with visitor guidance, which is becoming an issue again due to the increase in tourism.

New employee app for recruitment
In Berlin, Tourism Minister Mario Gerber (ÖVP) also emphasized the importance of new technologies and spoke about the new employee app that the Tirol Tourist Board will be establishing in the coming weeks: "A pioneering project for the whole of Austria." The app also works like a dating portal. Project coordinator Patricio Hetfleisch: "Employees and companies enter what they want and offer. The platform takes over the search and establishes the connection between companies and applicants." The app will subsequently be available to all sectors.

In terms of guests, Germans will remain the determining factor for Tyrol's tourism. More than every second holidaymaker comes from the neighboring country. As confirmed by a GfK survey presented at ITB, the Germans' desire to travel remains unbroken. According to the survey, 79 percent of neighbors are planning a vacation trip this year and 25 percent are prepared to spend significantly more money than last year.
