Michael Mittermeier:
“My time in Graz opened many doors for me”
35 years ago, Michael Mittermeier won the Kleinkunstvogel in Graz - it was the start of a stellar career. In an interview with "Krone", the German comedy star remembers his beginnings and talks about the role a couch in a shared flat in Graz played in his career.
"Krone": In 1988, the Grazer Kleinkunstvogel was a very young cabaret prize, how did you, as a young Bavarian, come to Graz in the first place?
Mittermaier: I can still remember it well. I had started doing cabaret in 1986, played in a youth center in 1987 and there was a flyer for the Grazer Kleinkunstvogel - don't ask me how it came to Bavaria - and then I simply applied for it. So a few months later I was on the train to Graz - that was half a trip around the world back then, I briefly thought I'd never get there. But it all worked out in the end.
