Fight against poverty
Caritas house collectors are out and about again
The organization traditionally asks for donations for its aid services in March. Volunteer fundraisers are out and about throughout the province. Because: 13 percent of people in Salzburg are at risk of poverty.
Every euro helps! For more than 75 years, Caritas has been collecting donations at private doors. Since March, dedicated fundraisers for the aid organization have once again been out and about throughout the province and in the Tyrolean parts of the archdiocese.
40 percent remains in the parishes
"It's a matter close to my heart," says Anita Bott. The mother of two is on the road for Caritas in Hüttau. She visits around 50 to 60 households a year. "The amount of donations we receive has increased, despite economic difficulties," says Bott happily.
40 percent of the donations remain in the respective parish. The remaining donations go to people in need via Caritas Salzburg. The donations are used to finance part of the assistance offered, such as social counseling, street work and day centers. Because: 13 percent of all Salzburg residents live in poverty or are at risk of it.
