For the majority of domestic customers, price is the most important purchasing argument. This is why most discount stores are booming and more and more long-established businesses are coming under pressure. Even H&M has recently lost sales.

It can happen to anyone: The internationally very successful discount retailer Pepco is closing all 73 stores in Austria and filed for insolvency on Tuesday. The Polish company had been active in this country since 2021, when it entered into contracts with the shoe giant CCC.
