Ex-SPÖ leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner is pleased to have the support of Constitutional and European Affairs Minister Karoline Edtstadler and Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg. It is not only the ex-SPÖ leader who is supported by ÖVP departments. There may also be power-political reasons for the rapprochement between the coalition parties.
They are two different political worlds. On the one hand, there are triumphant SPÖ reactions to the non-appealable conviction of Sebastian Kurz on one of three charges of making a false statement in the U Committee. On the other hand, ÖVP government members are making enthusiastic announcements following the appointment of former SPÖ leader and ex-Health Minister Pamela Rendi-Wagner as head of an EU health authority in Stockholm. All this within a few days of each other.
