Mini program planned
Turquoise-Green’s last stand before the election
In around ten days' time, a roadmap will be drawn up showing which projects can still be implemented by September. These are the wish lists of the ÖVP and the Greens.
Alongside the amazement at how monstrous Johanna Mikl-Leitner's birthday party was, the second most important topic at the party was: what will happen next with the government? "We'll know in the next ten days," was the answer from the ÖVP ministers. At the moment, the ÖVP and the Greens are negotiating intensively on a roadmap of what can still be implemented by the end of September. If these negotiations fail, it would be an exit scenario to hold a super election Sunday on June 9 after all.
The wish lists at a glance
- For the Greens:
Repair of the fully slit floor law
Housing billions for housing construction earmarked for soil protection (less sealing) - For the ÖVP:
Asylum and security: payment card for asylum seekers is certainly an issue
Promote property ownership
Further tax relief
Energy and infrastructure
At the moment, it looks more like all efforts are being invested in creating a mini-program. One focus will be on the construction industry, which is under severe pressure. Vice-Chancellor Werner Kogler told the "Krone" newspaper: "If the ÖVP has the courage to do so, we want to actually earmark the billions for housing construction in all federal states." The creation of property is also a focus of the People's Party.
The ÖVP wants further tax relief. The ÖVP did not want to commit itself as to whether this should be the full-time bonus or a reduction in non-wage labor costs. On the subject of energy, the ÖVP is in principle in favor of independence from Russian gas, but gas must not become more expensive.
