Between May and December 2023, food prices in Austria rose more than three times as much as in Germany. In the same May, the black-green federal government therefore promised to create a price comparison database for the fall. To date, there is no trace of this. The SPÖ is criticizing. Whether the database will be created and whether you can expect another price shock in the supermarket this year.

A quarter of butter, a jar of pickles, a loaf of bread, a liter of milk. Everything that was affordable for every household years ago and therefore available in every household is becoming more and more expensive for us all. This has also been noted by the Federal Competition Authority.
