World Championships in the back of her mind
Why Anna Gasser will not be competing at home
The snowboarders' home World Cup in the Absolut Park in Flachauwinkl will take place without local top star Anna Gasser. The Carinthian has decided not to compete in view of the upcoming World Championships in Switzerland.
Kronen Zeitung als bevorzugte Google-Quelle hinzufügen Hopes for a big show from figurehead Anna Gasser at her home World Cup in the Absolut Park in Flachauwinkl were not fulfilled. The Carinthian did not start in the qualification on Thursday. It had snowed overnight, changing the conditions compared to the days before.
"No unnecessary risk"
"I didn't land properly in the kickers during training, so I decided not to take any unnecessary risks with regard to the upcoming World Championships and therefore not to compete," said the 33-year-old, already thinking about the medal hunt in the Swiss Engadin from March 17 to 30.
Great Britain's Mia Brookes, Julia Marino from the USA and Switzerland's Ariane Burri also refrained from competing in the qualifiers. Austria's Hanna Karrer and Selin Lakatha missed out on the final.
