Carinthia to be connected with Friuli-Venezia Giulia

Kick-off for the "Car2Go" project: over 600,000 euros will flow into strengthening regional cooperation until 2027.

The reason for the "Car2Go" initiative, which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), is the nomination of Gorizia as European Capital of Culture 2025 - we reported. The project was officially presented in Klagenfurt on Wednesday. The aim of the initiative is to strengthen the cultural tourism network between Carinthia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

Experience for possible Capital of Culture application
As part of the cross-border project, an ethnic diversity week, a summer school for young people and a 15-member group of experts taking part in "GO!2025" events are planned - in order to gather experience for a possible Carinthian Capital of Culture bid. In addition, a "Small Project Fund" with 100,000 euros will support innovative cultural initiatives.

These plans were presented by representatives of the project partners - including Karl Hren (Hermagoras), Ingrid Scozzai (URES - an economic association of the Slovenian ethnic group in Italy) and Elena Mengotti (Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia).

The project, which has a budget of more than 600,000 euros and uses the close historical ties between the regions to create new cultural and economic cooperation, will run until 2027.
