The winter scenes for the ZDF series "Die Bergretter" are currently being filmed in Tyrol. Specifically on the Kaunertal Glacier. The backdrop has already been of interest for several film productions.

The Kaunertal Glacier is not only popular with winter sports enthusiasts. The backdrop is also an interesting location for film makers from all over the world. The glacier is also a popular location for series. The crew of the ZDF series "Die Bergretter" is currently making a guest appearance in the Kaunertal and filming the winter scenes for the new season.

This is not the first time the glacier has been used for impressive shots. The team has been coming to Tyrol regularly to film for more than a decade.

A little foretaste: lead actors Sebastian Ströbel and Luise Bähr are currently scaling icy heights and abseiling into crevasses. They are always supported on set by real and experienced mountain rescuers. For example, Heri Eisl and Mathias Ragg.

The reason why the Kaunertal glacier is popular with the "mountain rescuers", but also for action thrillers such as "Triple X" with Vin Diesel, is quickly explained: thanks to the glacier road, which leads up to an altitude of 2750 meters, the equipment can be transported effortlessly.

And the local population is also used to the film and series productions. It even happens that local helpers and mountain guides spontaneously take on various tasks. For example, as skidoo drivers, igloo builders or stand-ins for the main actors.
