Accident on Tauern highway caused traffic jam

On Sunday afternoon, there was a crash on the Tauern highway while returning from the ski resorts. A car and a truck collided near Hallein, resulting in a closure of the A10. A short time later there was an accident at the Hiefler tunnel.

A truck and a car collided on the Tauernautobahn near Hallein shortly before 2 pm. The exact circumstances of the accident and the cause have not yet been clarified. One person sustained minor injuries and was taken to Salzburg Regional Hospital by the ambulance service. The A10 had to be closed for just under an hour, but has since been reopened.

Just over an hour later, there was a crash shortly after the Hiefler tunnel heading south. The tunnel had to be closed in both directions. Four people were injured in the crash. The Red Cross took two to Salzburg Regional Hospital and one to Schwarzach Hospital. One person sought medical treatment independently.

A traffic jam quickly developed on the alternative route, the B159 through the Salzach Valley. Previously, there had already been blockages and traffic jams in the return traffic from the ski resorts in front of the tunnel construction site near Werfen. The time lost was almost an hour.
