Body found in the garden: Identity has been clarified

Just over a week ago, a resident of a house in Hall in Tyrol discovered a badly decomposed body while looking for his cat in the garden. The Provincial Criminal Police Office began an investigation. The identity of the deceased has now been established. But the case remains a mystery. 

As the police announced on Thursday evening, the results of the molecular genetic comparison are now available. According to the results, the deceased, who was found on January 22, was a 30-year-old Austrian citizen who had been missing since autumn 2024. "Further investigations into the cause of death are ongoing," said Lieutenant Colonel Philipp Rapold, Deputy Head of the Tyrolean State Office of Criminal Investigation. 

Third-party fault cannot be ruled out
A post-mortem examination has not been able to determine the cause of death. It also remains a mystery as to how the man or his body came to be found. "We are investigating in every direction", said Rapold. The possibility of third-party involvement cannot be ruled out.
