Things are boiling in the brewing town. More precisely, in the ÖVP Zwettl, which had previously ruled with an absolute majority. Because it's gone. After losing eleven seats, Deputy Mayor Andrea Wiesmüller is turning her back on local politics completely. Town leader Franz Mold will now face a vote of confidence.

Although she had the second most ÖVP preference votes (381) after Mayor Franz Mold (1986) in Zwettl, Deputy Mayor Andrea Wiesmüller declared on Wednesday that she would no longer accept her mandate. After the historic election defeat and the loss of the absolute black majority in Zwettl, the long-standing finance councillor is no longer available for local politics.

Head of town raises question of confidence
Neither Wiesmüller nor Mold were available for the "Krone". However, the ÖVP not only confirmed the resignation, but also that city leader Mold will face a vote of confidence in the party. As even greater losses would have been expected within the party without Mold, the vote is likely to go in his favor.
