Prohibited zones: How can Vienna become safer?

Back in February 2019, the Floridsdorf district council passed a majority resolution in favor of an alcohol ban on Franz-Jonas-Platz. Now the idea looks set to become a reality: The measure is to be tested as part of a broader campaign for a "safe Vienna". How do you rate the current measures for more safety in Vienna?

After an initial evaluation phase, the priority campaigns are to be rolled out across the entire city. While the number of offenses in Vienna's first alcohol ban zone around the Praterstern has fallen steadily in recent years, many Krone readers fear that the problem is shifting. It is questionable whether the ban will actually lead to an improvement in the situation or merely shift the hotspot to the surrounding areas not affected by the ban.
