Trouble with the post office: What are your experiences?

The case of an Upper Austrian farmer is an extreme example of problems with delivery services. She did not receive any mail for weeks because her driveway was icy and slushy, which prevented the delivery person from entering the property. In addition, it was unclear where the mail had been deposited, which led to missed bills. Always in trouble with the post office - do you know that too? 

In the case of the farmer mentioned above, a solution is now being worked on. But undelivered letters or parcels are not uncommon. The delivery staff sometimes work under precarious working conditions, and stress and pressure are the order of the day. Exasperation on both sides is literally pre-programmed.

Have you ever had problems delivering mail? How do you react in such situations? Do you take precautions in this regard, such as issuing a drop-off permit or getting family members to be at home on the day you are expecting the parcel if you are unable to attend?
