Stabbing attack in family home: two dead

A man and a woman were killed in a stabbing attack in an apartment building in Germany on Monday. Another man and another woman were seriously injured, a police spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, the suspected perpetrator was caught during the police operation. The police were deployed in large numbers. The background to the violent crime in Casekow (Uckermark district) in the federal state of Brandenburg is still unclear. 

The arrested suspect and the four victims are all said to be German citizens. Police found a dead man and a dead woman in an apartment after an emergency call at around 10 am.

Rescue helicopter landed at the scene
A seriously injured woman was found in a neighboring apartment, the spokesman said after initial findings. She had probably saved herself there. A seriously injured man was found in a backyard. A rescue helicopter landed at the scene. The homicide squad is investigating.

The police spokesman did not provide any further details about the suspect. There was violence with a "stabbing tool", as he said. He has not yet been able to say whether it was a knife.
