Large parts of Mount Vesuvius were covered in snow following the passage of a cold front. Not only the top of the 1280-metre-high volcano, but also the slopes were covered in snow. It rained heavily in Naples and the city was also hit by gusts of cold wind, as the media reported.

As the skies cleared over Naples on Sunday morning, a thick layer of snow appeared, visible not only on the summit of Mount Vesuvius, but also along a large part of its ridge.

There was also heavy snowfall in the province of the port city of Salerno, south of Naples, not only in the mountains but also in the hilly areas at lower altitudes.

This caused difficulties on the roads, with many drivers stranded due to the snow. Civil defense snow clearing vehicles came to the rescue. On social media
