Hammer rumor! Lewis Hamilton to save KTM

That would be a real bombshell at the turn of the year! Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton is to secure KTM's future in MotoGP as an investor. Just a rumor, or is there more to it? 

After all, the Austrian manufacturer's Head of Motorsport, Pit Beirer, confirmed contact with Hamilton to the magazine "speedweek". The German: "I can only say that we have had very interesting talks with his management."

What else speaks for it? The Brit is a motorcycle fan. "I've always loved MotoGP and I'm also interested in the potential growth of the sport," said Hamilton after his last race for Mercedes in Abu Dhabi. What's more, the F1 star had already wanted to invest in the Ducati team in the past. However, this deal did not materialize - but perhaps now the one with KTM ...

Debts in the billions
On November 29, insolvency proceedings were opened for KTM AG, KTM Components GmbH and KTM Forschungs & Entwicklungs GmbH. All three proceedings are being conducted as restructuring proceedings with self-administration. According to the company, liabilities amounted to around two billion euros at the end of November.

Due to the financial problems, KTM is said to have made the internal decision to stop the development of MotoGP bikes for the time being. Now, however, a potent and really well-known savior could have been found in Hamilton.
