Benedikt Zech returns to SCR Altach

After five and a half seasons at Polish first division club Pogon Szczecin, Benedikt Zech will now return to SCR Altach during the winter break to strengthen the central defense. 

Altach presents its first new signing, and a very familiar face at that. Benedikt Zech has signed a contract with Altach until 2026 with an option for a further year. Zech's contract with Polish first division club Pogon Szczecin would have run until next June.

"It's a great feeling to be back here in Altach. The club and the fans have always meant a lot to me and I'm looking forward to playing my part in helping us achieve our goals," said the 34-year-old in an initial statement. "With my experience from the last few years, I want to give the team stability and support, both on and off the pitch. I'm highly motivated to give my all for Altach again."

Born in Ludesch, Zech can look back on a long history with the Rheindörfler. He played at Schnabelholz from September 2012 to July 2019, appearing in 210 games for Altachern and scoring four goals in the process. 128 times for the SCRA in the Bundesliga.

"Benedikt returns to us as a player who not only knows the league very well, but also our club. His international experience and leadership qualities will give our defense additional stability," says Altach sports director Roland Kirchler, "we are convinced that he will play an important role in our team."
