Nine kilograms of marijuana discovered in a coach

A tip-off from the Bavarian police led to a drug smuggling find in Vienna: a 35-year-old man was initially arrested at the border with one kilogram of marijuana. The Viennese police later discovered two suitcases containing nine kilograms of cannabis in a coach. 

On Monday afternoon, the Passau police received a tip-off from Bavarian investigators about a possible drug smuggling case. Officers from the Passau border police had arrested a 35-year-old man with Bulgarian citizenship who was in possession of one kilogram of marijuana.

Suspicion of further drug smuggling
The man was strongly suspected of having hidden further quantities of narcotics in a scheduled coach from Amsterdam to Vienna. The officers of the police cooperation center immediately informed the Vienna police.

Nine kilograms of cannabis in two suitcases
Late on Monday afternoon, officers from the Landstraße municipal police command found two suitcases containing a total of nine kilograms of herbal cannabis in vacuum-sealed plastic bags in the hold of the coach that had arrived in Vienna - the officers were able to seize them. By order of the Passau public prosecutor's office, the 35-year-old was taken to a prison.
