How to make the switch to a heat pump
2023 was not a good year for heat pumps. General inflation, higher construction prices and high interest rates on loans led to a decline in the number of newly installed heat pumps in Austrian homes. However, things should pick up again in 2024. Do you also want to change your heating system? Krone+ has taken a look at how retrofitting works, what options and subsidies are available and where the costs outweigh the benefits.
Around three quarters of a household's energy costs are incurred for heating and hot water preparation. The proportion can be even higher if the domestic property is not state of the art and a lot of heat is lost due to poor insulation. To save costs in the long term, it is necessary to renovate the building envelope (walls, windows, roof) and/or replace the heating system.
