Sexually transmitted diseases are on the rise in Austria. However, many people still feel embarrassed to get tested by a doctor. Nowadays, you can also test yourself discreetly at home—but how practical and reliable are these home tests?

The most beautiful thing in the world can also have unpleasant side effects, and these are called chlamydia, HIV, or syphilis. Since many sexually transmitted infections (also known as STDs or STIs) can be effectively treated with antibiotics or antiviral therapy, they seem to have largely lost their terror. This, in turn, has led to protective measures being taken less seriously and infection rates rising.
