Tyrol: Shoplifters were caught red-handed

Shoplifters were up to mischief in Innsbruck and Mayrhofen in the Tyrolean Zillertal on Wednesday. In the provincial capital, a 33-year-old woman tried to steal several care products and clothing. Meanwhile, two perfume thieves were caught red-handed in Mayrhofen.

According to the police, the first crime took place shortly before 1 pm. "In a shopping center in Innsbruck, a 33-year-old local woman was stopped by a store detective after she had tried to steal several care products," said the investigators. 

The woman initially wanted to flee, but then accompanied the detective to the office after he had calmed her down. "Further stolen goods from a clothing store were found there." The stores have since received their goods back. The 33-year-old was reported at large.

At around 7 pm, the two suspects, two Romanians aged 26 and 28, were stopped and arrested in Mayrhofen.

The second crime took place at around 4 pm. "In a drugstore in Mayrhofen, two suspects were observed by staff stealing perfume and briefly stopped." The two thieves managed to escape and an immediate manhunt was initially unsuccessful.

"At around 7 pm, the two suspects, two Romanians aged 26 and 28, were stopped and arrested in Mayrhofen." The police were able to seize a travel bag containing other stolen goods. Both men were detained by the police for the time being.
