State to municipalities: “Election information not provided”
Imagine that the Chamber of Agriculture elections are approaching and nobody is supposed to know. In a circular letter to the associations of municipal representatives, the state of Lower Austria officially informed the municipalities that they should not be informed about the upcoming Chamber of Agriculture elections. Concerned officials have identified a "questionable understanding of democracy". The responsible department of the state is seeking clarification. What is really behind this?
Chambers of farmers who help to compile electoral registers, which are then created by mayors. And registers in which there is no "right of appeal" against inclusion, non-inclusion or deletion. What may at first sound like conspiracy theories surrounding the US election to some observers is, to a certain extent, the law in Lower Austria.
