The road was getting narrower and narrower, it was probably no longer possible to turn back. On Wednesday evening, a truck driver in Stans in Tyrol apparently thought to himself: close your eyes and drive on! But the journey turned into a fiasco.

In the early evening on Wednesday, a Croatian truck driver (24) was driving a fully loaded timber transporter towards the valley on the so-called Heuberg near Stans despite the existing driving ban. The young man was probably a victim of his navigation system. His destination was a sawmill in Vomperbach, as he later told the police. 

Trees prevented even worse
The route chosen by the Croatian on the Heuberg is narrow and not suitable for heavy vehicles. It came as it probably had to: the driver maneuvered his heavy vehicle more and more into a dead end. In a bend, the timber transporter finally tipped over. Trees prevented the heavy vehicle from crashing.

The Stans fire department as well as the ambulance, police and mountain rescue services from Schwaz had to be called out. Although the driver survived the accident unharmed, it was not possible to recover the heavy vehicle for the time being in the evening.
