State supports Weißsee region with 150,000 euros

As reported, the Weißsee Glacier World is now open for the winter after all. At the same time, the search for a possible investor is underway. There are grants from the municipality of Uttendorf and the tourism association for the emergency operation. And now the state of Salzburg has also agreed to provide 150,000 euros. 

The news that the cable car and mountain hotel in Weißseegletscherwelt had to close in September came as a shock to the region: hotelier Wilfried Holleis is saying goodbye to the area after 20 years. His main complaints were the difficult approval processes for a planned expansion and blockades on the part of the Provincial Environmental Ombudsman.

At the last minute, an emergency operation was set up over the winter. Following grants from the municipality of Uttendorf and the tourism association, the state has now also pledged funding of 150,000 euros in the form of an investment grant for a lift that has already been built. "We are naturally delighted about this," says hotelier Holleis. Talks are also underway with various investors.
