Tanz Linz: movement and freedom in space and time

The Company Tanz Linz at the Landestheater opens its season on Saturday with "Lovetrain 2.0". The French-Israeli star choreographer Emanuel Gat is developing the production together with 14 dancers. Pop music by the British duo Tears for Fears plays an important role. 

In view of the many crises and wars, it seems almost unusual to sow the "seeds of love". But the British pop band Tears for Fears do it in their song "Sowing the Seeds of Love", which will play a major role in the Linz dance company's new production "Lovetrain 2.0".

We won't know exactly what happens on stage until after the premiere next Saturday.

Rules and freedom on the dance floor
One thing is certain: star choreographer Emanuel Gat is not telling a continuous story. Instead, he grants each of the 14 dancers the utmost individuality and freedom and merely provides a kind of "role system": "Choreography is the organization of movement in space and time," is his philosophy.

He has been pursuing "Lovetrain" for four years with various companies and is enthusiastic about Tanz Linz: "The company has been curious since the first rehearsal in mid-August until today." "Lovetrain 2.0" is the season opener for the dance division.
