From "Unbearable" to "I like living here" - satisfaction in Vienna's municipal housing estates is just as divided as the election results in the National Council elections. Municipal housing has always been at the heart of social democratic urban policy in Vienna. But the election has shown: The number of FPÖ voters is increasing in many housing estates. But why is that?

Municipal housing estates are the pride and joy of the Social Democrats and a figurehead of red Vienna. But the National Council elections have also shown this: The number of FPÖ voters is steadily increasing in the former red strongholds. Special attention is being paid to Floridsdorf. It is the only district in which the FPÖ received more votes than the SPÖ.
