Bomb threat again

Email caused chaos at Klagenfurt train station

After Graz, Linz, Salzburg, Amstetten and St. Pölten, a bomb threat was suddenly received in Klagenfurt on Wednesday evening. In an anonymous e-mail at 9 pm, there was talk of detonating explosive devices. 

Only the investigations will show whether there is a connection to the previous bomb threats, but a certain pattern has emerged since the National Council elections. "There are no details yet, the email came from an unknown sender," said the police. "For security reasons, in consultation with the ÖBB security coordinator, the station was evacuated and rail services were temporarily suspended."

The bomb threat kept around 30 police officers on their toes - several patrols and service dog handlers searched the main station for the alleged explosive devices, while traffic was diverted over a large area. "The entire area was thoroughly searched, but no suspicious objects were found," reported the police.

The station was reopened at around 10.35 pm. Now it is the turn of the investigators from the State Office for State Protection and Counter-Extremism. However, an anonymous e-mail could make the search extremely difficult. Nothing was found in the incidents in Graz, Linz, Salzburg, Amstetten and St. Pölten (also on Wednesday evening), and there is still no information on suspects.
