“MaHü”: How could the situation be improved?

Mariahilfer Straße, or "MaHü" for short, is one of Vienna's most important shopping streets and is well frequented, as you can find almost any store you could wish for here. The culinary offerings are not neglected either. But the shopping experience is marred by a few problems. What would be the best way to tackle this and give it a better image? We look forward to hearing your ideas!

In the street, where store after store is lined up, alcohol and drug offenses are on the increase and there are also acts of violence. Passers-by report that they feel increasingly uncomfortable there. The garbage problem is also undeniable, with public garbage bins sometimes overflowing. A package of measures from the city is intended to remedy the situation - with an increased police presence, more places for homeless people and increased cleaning by the MA48.
