Find of a mortar shell from the Second World War

A grenade was found in Tyrol on Monday! The mortar shell from the Second World War was discovered by a building owner (42) during basement excavation work - he immediately informed the police.

Spectacular find in Tyrol! A mortar shell from the Second World War was found in Wängle at around 8.15 a.m. on Monday during cellar excavation work with an excavator.

After the 42-year-old builder had reported the discovery to the Reutte police station, a police explosives expert (SKO) was sent immediately.

After the SKO's assessment, the site was cordoned off and the demining service of the Austrian Armed Forces was alerted. At around 4.20 pm, the grenade was secured and taken over by the demining service.
