Secret political plans
Split the ministry? The FPÖ sugar for the ÖVP
If Herbert Kickl wants to become Federal Chancellor, this will only be possible with the ÖVP. His election manifesto already includes "economic policy convergences" with the course of the People's Party. There is already speculation behind the scenes about further "sweeteners" for a blue-black pact. For example, a ministry could be divided up to the satisfaction of both parties.
It is well known that FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl not only wants to come first in the National Council elections, but also to become Federal Chancellor afterwards. In terms of realpolitik, this is only possible with the ÖVP. All other parties are ruling out a pact with Herbert Kickl and in some cases also with the FPÖ.
ÖVP Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer has also ruled out a Kickl coalition. However, in view of the threat of massive losses in the election, he must first assert himself as party leader. And that is precisely why blue-black plans are already being forged behind the scenes.
