In lumberjack look: Hirscher warms up

Marcel Hirscher is currently preparing for his World Cup comeback in New Zealand. And he is doing so in atypical ski clothing - the racing suit has had to make way for a lumberjack shirt ...

"First stage successfully completed. Now it's time to tackle the next stage of this journey," wrote the eight-time overall World Cup winner in a series of pictures he shared on Instagram. The Salzburg native can be seen in what appears to be summer temperatures in the snow in New Zealand.

Sölden starting place fixed
As Hirscher has a fixed starting place at the World Cup opener in Sölden thanks to a wildcard, the pressure is not too great and the Salzburg native is using the FIS races in New Zealand as preparation. "We've only taken enough equipment with us to New Zealand so that we can efficiently find the right setups for the different slope conditions, everything else happens at home," Hirscher recently explained.

After the now 35-year-old announced the end of his career in September 2019, he will be making a comeback next winter with his own brand and renewed motivation.
