Low-cost airline Easyjet cancels more than 200 flights

The British low-cost airline Easyjet has canceled 232 flights to and from Portugal from Thursday to Saturday due to planned strikes by cabin crew.

Easyjet Portugal informed the news agency Reuters on Wednesday that 1138 flights were planned for these days, but that around a fifth of them would be canceled due to the strike.

The cabin crew of the low-cost airline in Portugal, a popular vacation destination, had announced at the end of July that they would strike from August 15 to 17.

The Portuguese aviation union SNPVAC justified the action by citing inadequate staffing levels and the pressure to work overtime, among other reasons.
