Boy seriously injured in mountain bike crash

A mountain bike adventure ended in hospital for a twelve-year-old in East Tyrol on Sunday. The boy fell on a trail in Lienz and suffered serious injuries.

The accident happened on the Schlossberg in Lienz. The twelve-year-old lost control in a bend, fell and suffered serious injuries to his shoulder, the police reported.

Mother raised the alarm
The boy was able to call his mother on his own, who then set the rescue chain in motion.

Rescue to hospital
After initial treatment at the scene of the accident, the twelve-year-old was taken to hospital in Lienz by ambulance accompanied by an emergency doctor.
