Rescue car involved in accident while transporting patient

A scary moment on the Wels highway: an ambulance was involved in an accident there on Saturday while a patient was being transported in the car. Fortunately, the outcome was not too serious for the patient and the two paramedics.

According to the Upper Austrian Red Cross, the accident happened during a so-called transfer transport, i.e. a journey with a patient. There were two paramedics in the ambulance alongside the patient.

Unscheduled hospitalization
The ambulance crashed on the A25 between Traun and Weißkirchen at around 3.30 p.m. on Saturday. It was not yet known what caused the accident or how it happened.

The three occupants - patient and paramedic - escaped with minor injuries, according to the Red Cross. All three were taken to hospital in Wels.
