Passers-by overlooked when reversing

The police are looking for witnesses after accidents while reversing or parking in Sillian and Walchsee. In one case, an elderly woman was so seriously injured that she had to be flown by helicopter to Innsbruck Hospital. 

At around 11.20 a.m. on Wednesday, a 21-year-old Austrian man reversed a van from a parking lot onto the Drautalbundesstraße in Sillian.

The rear of the vehicle hit an elderly female pedestrian on the road, whom the driver had obviously overlooked. The woman fell to the ground and was run over by the vehicle, sustaining serious injuries.

She was flown to Innsbruck Hospital by rescue helicopter. As the identity of the woman has not yet been clearly established, the investigation is ongoing.

Woman overlooked in parking lot
At around 9 a.m. the same day, a similar accident occurred in Walchsee: a 45-year-old Austrian man reversed a car in a parking lot on Dorfstraße in Walchsee and hit a previously unknown female pedestrian.

The woman fell to the ground, but immediately got up again and left the scene of the accident on her bicycle in the direction of Walchsee. The woman and any witnesses are asked to contact the Niederndorf police station (Tel. [phone]).
