Swimming accident in Seestadt: young man resuscitated

A serious swimming accident occurred early on Wednesday morning in Vienna's Seestadt district. A man aged around 20 had to be resuscitated by the emergency services.

The emergency services were alerted at around 7 am. Additional fire department divers were quickly flown to the scene of the accident from Vienna-Leopoldstadt in a rescue helicopter. A short time later, the young man was found at a depth of around seven meters, brought to the surface and successfully resuscitated by the rescue team, reported Lukas Schauer, spokesman for the Vienna Fire Department. 

To hospital by helicopter
The casualty was then flown to hospital by the Vienna rescue helicopter Christophorus 9, explained Andreas Huber, spokesman for the Vienna Professional Rescue Service.
