Salzburg’s concrete construction sin is at Pass Thurn

Greenpeace has chosen "Austria's 9 concrete treasures" - the "Krone" reported on the negative award several times. Salzburg's clear winner: the controversial luxury resort "Six Senses".

The winners of the Greenpeace concrete competition have been announced! More than 20,000 votes and a jury of experts have chosen the biggest concrete construction sins in the country. In Salzburg, a favorite quickly emerged, which also prevailed in the end: The luxury resort "Six Senses Residences Kitzbühel Alps" at Pass Thurn near Mittersill.

Two hectares of forest have already been cleared at Pass Thurn. In addition, only luxury apartments are being built there. According to Greenpeace, the construction project for the well-heeled advertises the fact that all of the "residences" on offer have vacation apartment permits. 

Voting has been open for the past few weeks and the winners have been announced today, Tuesday. The Greenpeace organization made a shortlist from over 400 entries. In the end, there were five concrete construction projects per province to choose from.

In Salzburg, these included the Areitxpress parking lot in Zell/See, Salzburg's old town squares and the airport. In addition, the Schlotterer extension on the Adnet fields was also shortlisted for sealing.
