Kitzbühel: Berrettini first finalist

The Italian Matteo Berrettini has reached the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Kitzbühel. The former top ten player won 6:4, 6:4 against the German Yannick Hanfmann in 1:30 hours on Friday. 

Berrettini had already won the tournament in Gstaad last week, also on clay.

"I feel really good"
"The level was really high today. Yannick loves playing at altitude. I feel really good, but of course I'm still missing a few matches," said Berrettini, who suffered an ankle injury at the 2023 US Open.

"Winning the tournament would be incredible!"
"Winning the tournament would be incredible. I've had so many ups and downs and I wasn't sure if I could come back so strong after the injury." The 28-year-old, who is currently ranked 50th in the world, made it through to the final without dropping a set.

Hanfmann, however, who had fended off four match points, missed out on his second final appearance in the Gamsstadt since 2020. 23-year-old Gaston, who will be fighting for victory in the tournament for only the second time on the ATP Tour after Gstaad in 2021, is in the final. Diaz Acosta retired after thigh problems.
