Partly heavy thunderstorms move across Tyrol

It poured down like buckets in parts of Tyrol on Sunday evening. After a summery day, a heavy thunderstorm front moved across the country from west to east, sometimes with hail. GeoSphere Austria even issued an "orange" warning for parts of the province.

In places it poured down like a bucket, with torrential rain over Jenbach - including hail - at around 5.20 pm. 

Schwaz district as a hotspot
"The current hotspot is the town of Schwaz", informed the Tyrol emergency services in the evening, "cellars are under water, trees have fallen and there have also been landslides. But nothing major has happened so far."

By early evening, there had already been a total of 120 call-outs across Tyrol. A local resident confirms: "There was one siren after another here!"

Zillertal also badly affected again
Meanwhile, the Fügen volunteer fire department had to deal with a wind throw on the Hochfügen road above the train station in the early evening. "We had to deal with several windthrows on the Fügenberg," said the Fügen volunteer fire department.

In general, the Zillertal was also badly affected again, as the following video on Instagram shows.

Another mudslide on the Wattenberg
There was another mudslide on the Wattenberg. As on Friday, the Wattentalstraße was once again displaced by debris, mud and trees, which is why the road between Gasthof Säge and Gasthaus Hanneburger remains closed for the time being.

Fire caused by lightning
Meanwhile, there was a fire in Niederau caused by a lightning strike at around 6.10 pm. A power cable was torn from the pylon and the overvoltage also spread to the adjacent restaurant. This in turn led to a cable fire in the restaurant. 

There had already been several mudslides in Tyrol on Friday, resulting in road closures.
