Another vacancy: distillery moves out

Gin producer Brenngeist gives up its location in the municipal building. Mayor expresses surprise.

A good two years ago, the municipality bought the former Miklitsch inn in the center of the gunsmithing town with subsidies, creating a space for start-up companies. The two entrepreneurs Benjamin Unterzaucher and Martina Poganitsch also used this opportunity to set up their distillery in the Haus der Begegnung.

"But it has become too small for us," explains Poganitsch in an interview with the "Krone". The entrepreneurial couple therefore looked around for a new property in the gunsmithing town and found what they were looking for. "We will be moving into the house in Grießgasse in December."

Mayor surprised
A plan that surprises Ferlach's mayor Ingo Appé. "The distillery's plans are quite new to us," says the head of the municipality. After all, the municipality had made long-term plans with the entrepreneurial couple, especially as they had shown interest in the property in Ferlach town center.

But Appé already has a plan: "Talks are already underway with another company that is interested in the Haus der Begegnung. And even if the distillery's plans have changed, the Haus der Begegnung has served its purpose and helped young entrepreneurs."
