Baby girl loses fight against death after swimming accident

Terrible news for a family in St. Aegidi in Upper Austria. The 20-month-old girl who was found lifeless by her father in the pool about a week ago has now died at Kepler University Hospital.

The little girl had been splashing around with her five-year-old brother in an inflatable whirlpool set up in the garden of their parents' house at around 7.10 p.m. on July 9. The 20-month-old child was wearing a children's life jacket. 

Suddenly there was silence
The father was sitting a few meters away. When he suddenly stopped hearing his children playing, he immediately ran to the pool and discovered his daughter floating lifeless at the bottom.

Child was resuscitated
He reacted immediately, jumped into the pool, pulled the little girl out and began resuscitation measures. The emergency services were also alerted. They also managed to resuscitate the toddler. She was taken by helicopter to the Kepler University Hospital. But now the doctors lost the battle for the little girl's life. The police confirmed the girl's death to the "Krone" newspaper.

The family is receiving psychological support.
