The Kestag site in Ferlach is a symbol of state mismanagement. For where hundreds of people from Rosental once found a job, there was a yawning emptiness and decay for several decades. The "Krone" embarks on a journey through time.

Once a hallmark for excellent steel products and an important employer for the entire Rosental valley: Kärntnerische Eisen- und Stahlwerke Aktiengesellschaft, or Kestag for short. Today, only the old factory halls, the management villa, the administration building and numerous stories bear witness to the former heyday of steel production in the Rosental valley.
