Partner beaten and threatened – man charged

Because a 51-year-old man allegedly beat and threatened his partner, a police operation was carried out in an apartment in Vienna-Alsergrund on Monday night. The man was provisionally arrested at around midnight, reported at large and banned from entering the premises and provisionally banned from carrying weapons.

The woman had previously fled into another room with a child and locked herself in there, reported the provincial police headquarters.

The suspect had then tried to get into the room by kicking the door. The 51-year-old will be charged on suspicion of aggravated coercion, assault and damage to property, a police spokesperson said.
