Man (85) had an accident in front of his granddaughter

An 85-year-old man had a fatal accident in the Salzburg-Styria border region. The German, who had been hiking with his granddaughter, lost his footing and fell 50 meters into a rock gully. All help came too late for him. 

In Pongau on the border with Styria, an 85-year-old German man fell and was fatally injured on Wednesday afternoon while hiking with his granddaughter. According to the police, the man lost his footing on the descent and fell almost 50 meters into a rocky gully. The accident victim probably sustained life-threatening injuries during the fall; he could only be rescued dead.

Adverse wind conditions
The granddaughter made an emergency call immediately after the fall and tried to descend to her grandfather. Rescuing the 85-year-old by rescue helicopter turned out to be very difficult due to adverse wind conditions, according to the police, who began investigating the course of the accident.
