What vacationers in Croatia currently have to expect

The Croatian Tourist Board in Vienna is expecting a "very good" season in 2024 and (even) more guests from Austria. It could even set a record, as by the end of May there had already been twelve percent more guest arrivals and six percent more overnight stays. It is not surprising that Croatia, together with Italy, is the most popular travel destination for Austrians: it offers access to the Adriatic Sea and can be reached within a few hours' drive.
In times when long-distance travel is no longer affordable for many, these are two important points: The ÖAMTC travel monitoring shows that 60 percent of those surveyed would like a vacation by the water this year. Families in particular prefer to travel by car (82 percent). And that's where the trouble starts for many: endless traffic jams that cause so much stress that you need your vacation even more urgently afterwards.
